Saturday, June 17, 2006 Winter Warmer Last night I went to a Winter Warmer party, organised and hosted by my lovely friend Mel. This followed a lovely farewell dinner for one colleague with other colleagues. Speaking of which, I had a day of "exotic Asian flavours" yesterday. I had lunch with colleagues at a Japanese restaurant (chicken teriyaki), before eating Vietnamese (rice with prawn and vegetables)... Anyway... I digress... The Winter Warmer party was awesome. It was so good to catch up with uni friends, notably Mel, Ziver and Lucy. How cool!!! I think the highlight of the night would've had to have been the chocolate fondue. My friend was melting these MASSIVE blocks of Lindt chocolate in a double boiler but the blocks were so big it was taking ages to melt. She started to grate the MASSIVE blocks with the teensiest little grater I have ever seen. It was a sight to behold. I then noticed that there was an equally tiny saucepan next to the stove. On the bench was a HUGE grater, which would have been used to grate the chocolate had it not been used to grate a MASSIVE block of cheese for the earlier fondue. It was the oddest sight seeing the same kitchen utensils in different sizes and the size of these MASSIVE foodstuffs... I then helped to cut up strawberries and pineapple and we used long forks to dunk the fruit into the warm, chocolate fondue. It was awesome. I also had to prove to another party-goer that I could indeed speak Mandarin, by answering a question asked by a Frenchman speaking heavily French-accented Mandarin if I had been to China before... I told the party-goer that I didn't just make up that I could speak Mandarin as a party trick, however he wanted to test my mettle. And that he did. Sim's over in Hong Kong for business and I cannot WAIT til he gets back. Have a great time, mate! I found a great short exercise for everyone to try at home... Go to Google.
