Sweet November

On Wednesday 23 November, my brother and I headed to the Prince of Wales to see Sarah Blasko* in concert. There were two support acts, namely The Devoted Few and Art of Fighting.
While I have listened to Art of Fighting's Wires to death and love the record, I had not heard The Devoted Few's music before and was very impressed with what I heard. I believe my brother knew some of their stuff from JJJ and I really liked their music. I haven't been able to locate a setlist for their tracks, but their final track was excellent. The crowd loved it, and personally I did not want them to vacate the stage, even for AOF.

AOF were excellent. They brought a great energy to what I thought would remain a lush, dreamy soundscape if their album was any indication. I really enjoyed their set and will look toward getting their second album, Second Storey, at some stage I guess.

Sarah Blasko was the final act of the evening and I enjoyed her, and her band's, performance immensely. Her dancing was very interesting and she often seemed to look past the crowd, with her body slightly angled to the crowd, while she pressed together her thumb and index finger in quick succession near her face somewhere. She also fancied a bit of on the spot dancing and robot movements. It was great to watch. I particular enjoyed her cover of Flame Trees, as well as a little acoustic set of three or so songs in the middle of her performance.

On Saturday 26 November, my cousin married! My brother and I were honoured to read two passages each at his wedding and it was a lovely ceremony and reception. I was most impressed with the food, including but not especially, the lemon tart served with homemade vanilla bean ice cream and berry sauce. The beef sirloin went down a treat too!!!

Sunday 27 November was a lovely Welcome Home Dee BBQ at Eug's place. We saw a preview of Dee's photos, before lighting the BBQ where unfortunately the smoke got in everyone's eyes, especially Eug who was fanning the flames of the fire most prevalently. Chatting over sausages and assorted soft drinks, I had a great time. I especially enjoyed toasting marshmallows. That's something I had never done before and really thought they tasted different. Thanks to all of those who guided me through the experience and made sure my toasting stick was ideal.

I'll see you all very soon!
Have a good evening!
