Wheel of Fortune

What a fantastic weekend.
Jam-packed. Fun.

"it's days/nights like these when you know that you're alive"

The Laundry on Friday night was very cool. We saw Luckstone perform upstairs and they played funky / rocky music, then headed downstairs where this wicked DJ was mixing up some phat beats on his decks. I sooooo wanted to be a DJ at that moment. Had a bit of a boogie. was very very fun. He even played Downsyde's El Questro and it was worked in flawlesly between Superstition, some Missy Elliott and "Jump Around" - that song will forever remind me of post-Graduation at the Bunker :)

Oh and Beck's demo CD rocks! Beck - you bass-playing star, you, top work!

On Saturday, I met Nicole in the city. After about two months of both being busy and working like fiends, we finally caught up. The encounter was nice and random, as always. Walked up to the State Library, marvelled at the Domed Reading Room but not before we happened upon some cool pieces of artwork on the way there - all these Australian pieces; was very cool. The "collossal heads" were also quite... err, collossal and white. Impressive.

We then made our way to the free Michael Leunig exhibition, also at the State Library, and it was just so damned appropriate for that to be there. There were dioramas of various animation scenes, his trademark pen and ink cartoons, an animation video and some other musings. It was awesome. Some of his work is so melancholy and depics the human condition in such a unique way. Others are downright funny and some are risque!! Check it out if you get a chance - i think it's there til lateish Feb.

Wandered some more and grabbed lunch in a funky little place in some arcade/laneway - could it have been called the Causeway, or did I make that up? My lunch was starch-heavy; Nicole's not so much... :) [That's a personal joke, by the way]

Met some Deutschie up at Nova in Lygon St for Goodbye, Lenin, which is an excellent German movie. It was such a clever, quirky idea for a movie and it worked really, really well. (Simon - I thought the lead actor looked somewhat like your brother, although he had a fuller face. Was denkst du?)
I really loved the score.

Caught train home - had coffee and cake with Urukhai at The Glen, where I discovered what the term "toothbrush bracelet" really means. We then headed back and saw Finding Nemo with Joel.

Tja, overall - a jam-packed Saturday.

Sunday - worked all day before heading to the 7-11 to get the Early Edition Paper with First Round Offers. Alas, I did not receive one for Law. (Simon - I got the distinct impression that you did not know about your offer until I told you - is this so? If so, hahahahah). And by the way "please explain" Information Systems... Are you going to accept the offer?

There were about 30 anxious others, queueing [that word looks so wrong, I think I might buy a consonant] up to find out if they received a place. Was odd. I know I didn't do that after Year 12...

I then headed to a dinner party, one of many hopefully, and this month it was hosted by the delightful Ang! It was very very fun. We all deluded ourselves by saying it wasn't a "dinner party" as such, cos we're way too young and unsophisticated-like to go to such fancy soirees :)

Nevertheless, had the best time and Ang (and Kel!) went to great pains (ie Ang actually cut her finger quite badly and had to go to hospital) in preparation for the evening. Nevertheless, everything was really appreciated by everyone there.

Overall, an awesome weekend.
Looking forward to next weekend as well with Erica's Broadway Fever show, Jen's 21st and the JJJ BBQ [ahh, they must be the missing consonants for the word "queueing"].
