Sunday, December 28, 2003 Hello to all... Had a fantastic day today. Work was busy, but it didn't matter. Didn't do anything when I got home mid-afternoon - and then in the night time, I caught up with some friends I hadn't seen in far too long; Monique, Kate, Wendy + James for dinner. Was very nice to distance myself from certain people and get fresh perspective, honesty and friendship from an outside source. None of this Dawson's Creekness for me. No, thanks. Great night with good company, good food, hilarious topics of conversation, being refused entry as we didn't have ID at a 'we think we're too good for the eastern suburbs' nightclub at Eastland and Swiss Mountain Malts. Was generally excellent, open and much fun. Much fun. ********************************************* In other news, I have discovered that the collective noun for penguins is: A WADDLE of Penguins on land... ...and a RAFT of Penguins in the water! ********************************************* In other news, I seem to become especially nostalgic around this time of year. For obvious reasons, as year ends and we are about to embark upon another, but more than that, feel's like a bit of a crossroads. One degree ends for me, and I hope to enter another... But this makes me ask: Did I achieve what I wanted to in 2003...? Let' see - I graduated from my degree! - I went to Canberra to work for the government, meaning I lived by myself for 3 months of the year... - I upgraded to my full Driver's Licence... - I learnt a lot about myself, have grown into myself, am am becoming the person I want to be. - My eyes have opened to the people I want to keep in my life and the reasons therein... - I've become far more competent with this here Blogger template, and 'technology' on the whole... - Have helped to create ReciproCITY with some good mates. - Have established some fantastic friends, (thru Canberra/Fenner and uni) and maintained and nurtured others I care about... - I learnt Beginner's Dutch! (Ik heb Nederlands gelernt) - I'm getting better (well I think) at playing piano and am having fun with it... - I became a groupie for a non-existent Jazz Band!! - I got very very drunk on several occasions... and had the obligatory hangover that goes with I think it's been a good year.... Similarly, if someone had've said to me as I entered uni that I would've studied Chinese for two years, studied Chinese in China, German for three years, Dutch for one semester, travelled to Canberra to work with the Federal Government all by the time I finish my degree in three years time, I would have called the Thought Police!! But it happened! I guess you get out, what you put in...posted by AJ | 12:09 AM | |
