Hello all.

What up?

From previous posts, I mentioned the Public lecture Time, Einstein and the Coldest Stuff in the Universe, the Christmas in July Bar Night and even Murder.

All were great and fun-filled. One is still going....

The public lecture was given by Professor Bill Williams, who won the Nobel Prize in 1997!! It was really really interesting, even if most of it was over my head. He kept pouring liquid nitrogen on the floor of the lecture theatre at ANU and kept saying "This stuff is really really cold!" as the carpet was boiling the liquid nitrogen upon impact. He also kept blowing up balloons and emersing them in liquid nitrogen. The air inside them would become compressed and the balloons would be like steaming liquid nitrogen pancakes until they were warmed up in the normal atmosphere where they would expand to their regular, blown-up size... Very cool.

In fact, for me, the best part of the whole lecture was the way in which the overhead slides were written. They were all in coloured texta with cool little pics of the rotating earth and little watches and stuff. Very cool...

I actually got to the Lecture a bit early and they had changed the location of the Public Lecture. This meant I sat in on about 7 minutes of Macroeconomics. Fascinating stuff. I believe Max and Lucy studied this subject last year??

So when I found the right threatre, the lecture was about atomic clocks and using cesium-183 atoms to make atomic clocks. Atoms, like clocks, "tick" you see....

I think he said they used cesium atoms as some people (Powers That Be no doubt) agreed/discovered that cesium atoms "tick" at a good rate... Yeah, so to make an atomic clock, he spoke about needing to slow down how fast the cesium atoms travel using "LASER beams" Was fascinating.

Learnt such terms as :
optical molasses
bose-einstein condensation

Excellent!!

After a hurried walk home from ANU back to Fenner in the dark, it was time to get ready for the Bar Night. It was Nicole's birthday yesterday (Happy birthday Nicole!) so she asked me to collect an Express Post package from the Front Office as when it was time for her to arrive back at Fenner, the Front Office, with her parcel, would be shut. I went up to 9th South to give her the parcel and was confronted in the lift foyer by many of the residents there drawing pictures of everyone who lived on the floor on these huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge sheets of white paper. Aren't crayons fun?
They also had these yummy chocolate cupcakes that had lollies on top of the icing. I love 9th South. It's my second home.... See previous post about Snap Tournament...

Yes, so spent much time drawing things there. I drew their floor mascot, a'l orange, or something, which is a pet duck. 'Twas fun...

Then it was time to go downstairs to the Bar Night!! It was well attended and everyone looked a treat. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there as were numerous elves... Got a photo with one, methinks... Many photos were taken. Much alcohol was ingested. Much dancing took place. Was a great night.
Have many many photos. Will develop them today, hopefully...

Don't you hate it when you're drunk and you receive an sms message and you're sure you read something more into it because of the fact that you're drunk. That happened last night when Zimon messaged me. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

At 11pm the names were read aloud for Murder. We got our victim's name and a tiny water pistol and after that it's up to you to kill your victim without anyone from Fenner seeing you commit the crime. I killed someone!! YES!!! We went to Mortis, a club where the DJ spins his phat tunes on a hospital gurney and there are pics of x-rays on the walls and the booths are divided by hopital curtains. Yeah, so I "killed" my victim there, which meant I got his target off him. It is all very fun and inspires much paranoia in all who are involved. I heared that one guy woke up this morning and found that someone had cut out individual letters from a newspaper/magazine and had spelt out "I know where you live" and stuck it on his door while he slept.

What a great game/place!!

I am immune from the Game now, as I'm in the Computer Lab and firing water pistols in here could cause much damage, but once I step out that door, all hell could break loose. I think I told you about the Murder Hotline - see below!!

After Mortis, we then went to In-Blue and Southpac where more dancing took place. By this stage I was quite tired... After that we went to Chicken Gourmet and had chips with gravy on them and ate them on the long walk home to Fenner....

The cool part about Murder is that I actually know my next victim as well...
The hardest thing would be to suss out who they are if you have no clue or they are new or something....

Wow. That was a long post.
Am having a blast here. Will be very sad when I leave all these guys behind, but happy to see all my friends in Melbourne :)

Wish me luck on the hunt.
