Monday, June 09, 2003 so much dancing. wrong. Wow. GREAT weekend. All started on Friday night with the Casino Royale Bar Night which was much fun. Played Blackjack for most of the night, gambling with coloured little sticks. Ended up even, although some of the croupiers were RAPING me of my funds. Knocking on the table to indicate you want more cards is always good. "Hit me baby, one more time...." Met some people who were fans of Kath and Kim. Very cool - Imitiating Kath and Kel's dance moves was very funny - "so much dancing. wrong." Then on Saturday morning, Shane and Lib came up from Melbourne to say hi over the long weekend! We had a whirlwind our of Canberra. Breakfast at Civic (at noon... hehe), then went to the War Memorial. A Guided Tour there and that lasted for a couple of hours. Was a very VERY big place. Really liked the symbolism of the Tomb of the Unnamed Soldier. Very very cool... Saturday night involved a joint 19th and 21st birthday party, bucket punch, fireworks, much dancing. Very good night as well.... Sunday - went to the Royal Australian Mint (where we made our own special uncirculated one dollar coin. It commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Korean War (1953). Shane got a swanky uncirculated 2002 Australian one dollar coin - with a Silver Roo on it. Very cool!! Then to Parliament House. A Guided Tour there. That was excellent. Went to House of Reps and Senate Chambers. Hadn't been there before. Did you know that in the Senate there are RED exit signs? As the senate is a red room, the green exit signs would've looked strange, the designers felt. That means that there would've had to be legislation made and passed in that very building to allow for red exit signs. (The legal colour is green...). Also, we played spot the difference between the House of Reps and the Senate Chambers. Allegedly there are 22 differences between the two rooms. Couldn't spot them all.... Went back to Shane and Lib's Motel which was actually in Queanbeyan. For those that know Queanbeyan is actually in NSW (just over the border). So actually travelled interstate this weekend which is pretty cool.... Watched The Block (funny renovating show - aren't they all?), Big Bro and Centre Stage - I can see why Erica enjoys that movie so much. "so much dancing. wrong" Am now finishing my Culture and Business in East Asia essay before tackling the Project Literature Review. Buffy tonight. Trivia night Wednesday night. it's gonna be good........posted by AJ | 2:39 PM | |
