Sunday, March 05, 2006 Five Things Meme... While I do not have as amusing and shocking a title as Erica's Meme post did, I have nevertheless been tagged. Here is my attempt at a meme... Note: I have been pronouncing this word in my head as ryhming with dream. If it in fact has an alternate pronunciation (such as me-me), please let me know!!! WHAT WAS I DOING 10 YEARS AGO? Ten years ago, 1996, I was in Year 8. Let's see, this would've meant that I was heavily into Star Trek [and a lot has changed...:) ], was still playing a lot of basketball and training for it on Monday nights and Sunday mornings and playing it on Friday night and Saturday afternoons. I'm pretty sure those were the big things in my life in 1996. WHAT WAS I DOING ONE YEAR AGO? One year ago, 2005, was not too different to right now. I was working with my current employer (albeit in a different area) and enjoying life!! Let's see - March - I believe Sim and I would've started to plan our June trip to Tasmania at around this time last year. That means I was probably busy emailling places and visiting websites sourcing accommodation and such! FIVE SNACKS I ENJOY: (Only five... sheesh McGeesh. This is gonna be hard hahahahaha) - Country Mints. - Friands - Fritatta - Dark chocolate, but I won't discriminate if presented with the milk variety - Toobs! Do you remember toobs?? I found a looky-likey version of Toobs recently at The Nut Shack. Such flavours! FIVE SONGS TO WHICH I KNOW ALL THE LYRICS: - Like Erica, I am not impartial to the old Disney musical numbers. This means I, also, know all the words to songs like The Little Mermaid's Part of Your World (I must comment that I think the Reprise of this song is underrated and I enjoy it!), Aladdin's A Whole New World and The Lion King's Circle of Life (African parts excluded hehe) - Radiohead's Green Plastic Trees and/or Paranoid Android (so hard not to write Paranoid Andrew!!! - Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight. Song that made me fall in love with their music. It appears on about five or six mix tapes of 1996-97, where I used to tape it off the Radio. Same can be said for Alanis Morisette's Ironic. Recently, in Tasmania actually, I heard the opening bars to Ironic and went "Yessss!" proceeded to turn up the radio and started singing along to all the words to it and at that stage the song was prematurely terminated... The DJ said that they did not have time to play the full song... So why play two-thirds, then hey?? - Garbage's Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!). This was evidenced when Garbage played Melbourne in November 2005 and I found myself singing along with Shirley Manson word for word for this song. I had always had somehwt of a take-it-or-leave-it relationship with this song, but I know think it quite simply rocks. Pure, unalterated pop, that is at the same time subversive. - Bic Runga's When I See You Smile and Shawn Colvin's Never Saw Blue Like That. Beautiful. FIVE THINGS I WOULD DO IF I WERE A MILLIONAIRE: - Ensure my family were financially secure and happy - Buy and furnish/decorate a home in Melbourne. - The above would include a home cinema (not home theatre system) but home cinema, like the one George Lucas has at his place... - I might instead/also buy a property in Europe or some other exotic location, to enjoy as a 'summer residence'. HAHAHAHA - Perhaps go on a round the world trip FIVE BAD HABITS: This is hard.... It's not that I don't have them, it's that I can't think of them. Perhaps people can comment and say what bad habits I have...??? - Sometimes, using like, as a, like, punctuation mark? - - - - FIVE THINGS YOU LIKE DOING: - Chilling with Sim - Watching DVDs with friends - Baking cakes that I have not baked before (that sounded like the Star Trek opening monologue - to boldly bake where no cakes have ever been baked before) - Studying grammar and/or languages. Did you know that 'to boldly go' used in the real Star Trek opening monologue contains a split infinite? It should therefore be "to go boldly"... - Being creative, by way of blog or my scrapbook or making cards, presents for friends FIVE THINGS YOU WOULD NEVER WEAR, BUY OR GET NEW AGAIN: - Wear: Thongs. I just don't find them comfortable. - Buy: Tattoo. I don't believe I will ever get one. I don't want one. - - - I'm struggling to think of others. Suggestions?? THE MEME STUFF: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot.
