The flowers are definitely in bloom

On Tuesday evening, Erica, Simon and I spent a lovely and warm, Melbourne Cup Evening together. We met to see Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room at Cinema Nova and to eat a lovely dinner and the nearby Cafe Italia and top it all off with great company, conversation and iced chocolates/coffee! Koko Black, the pleasure was ours!

The movie was really enjoyable and we all had such a great evening that we are going to do it again (not all facets of the evening will be repeated exactly the same, you understand)... Cinema Nova really does have some great movies there. Paradise Now, a drama about two Palestinian suicide bombers is a movie that looks very gripping and interesting and I think it will be our next foray into cinema at the Nova.

Preceding Tuesday's encounter, I caught up with Erica last Saturday for a delightful "Spring Barbecue". It was an evening of toasted pine nuts, mango and pumpkin salad; potato salad drizzled with seeded mustard and delicately dressed with Asparagus Spears*; sausages, corn chips, "steak/stake"s; and pear and almond cake with passionfruit glaze.

The steak/stake comment is in reference to one of Erica's former workmates who unfortunately misspelled stake "steak", so that her attempts in searching for a garden stake in the computer failed. Suffice it to say, I don't think a hardware store sells steak. After all, as Marge said to Homer, "Money's too tight for steak"...

*As I was telling Erica on the night, asparagus was Britney's first choice for her baby's name. This piece of information wasn't made public, though. I am not too sure of the precise reason...

Tomorrow night, we are heading off to The Flying Duck Hotel for my cousin's Buck's dinner-portion-of-the Day. It should be a very enjoyable evening. It's also Dad's birthday on the weekend, so it will be really nice to spend a quiet day at home with Dad, Sim, Shane, Libby and Jaffa (Libby's dog, which is a orange and gold Pomeranian-cross-something) and not do much at all!

'Til next time, folks.

Good night, Mum. I love you and will always. I know you are looking down on us and please know that Shane, Dad and I are all happy, healthy and helping. The new Harry Potter movie is out soon.

Your rose and orange flower were the most magnificent they've ever been this year. You would have loved them.

Love your boy, AJ x
