May the Fourth be with you!

...That would have been the title of my post, had I been able to actually write in this Blogger window on the 4th of May. For some reason on Wednesday the 4th of May, I was unable to type in this window that I'm typing in now. It was as if the Jedi really were using the Fourth (sic) against me and didn't want me to be sacriligious for defiling their sacred day and dirtying their name in such a manner....

I was extremely disappointed that I was unable to make a post as I been looking forward to doing so some some MONTHS, purely for the fact that I wanted to be extremely punny and combine the date with one of most famous lines from the Star Wars franchise, "May the Force be with you". I thought I'd better write that, just in case you weren't sure what I was talking about all this time... Cool that Episode III is to be released in about two weeks, eh?

Let's see - what have I been up to for the past month...

Dad went into hospital for a total knee replacement on the 7th of April and it was discovered that he had a very bad infection which required him to have the most powerful antibiotics given to him through a drip. So every night for the past month or so, Shane and I (with Sim and Lib if they were in the vicinity) visited Dad in hospital to keep him company and make his road to recovery filled with familiar faces.

Dad then spent approximately one and a half weeks in a rehabilitation clinic where he received physio for his operation and on Friday, he came home! Now the slow process comes whereby Dad has to do his own physio...

In between all of that, other events I'm sure happened. The Pope died with Benedict XVI becoming the new Pope. Did you hear the story that some guy (probably in the US) registered several domain names for what the new Pop might be called, such as benedictXVI.net or.com or John Paul III or something, and when the new Pope decided to take that name Benedict XVI, there were many people around the world offering this gentlman in the US a lot of money to sell the web domain so that the faithful could post about the new Pope and use the Internet to spread the Word... Very shrewd and clever. Why didn't I think of that!? Hahahahaha

It was Eug's 23rd birthday on Tuesday and Erica's 21st birthday on Friday!
Both parties to celebrate these events were FANTASTIC and I had a great time at both...

While there were no speeches at Eug's 23rd, there were at Erica's 21st last night and along with Mark and Joel, I gave one. Hopefully when the photos from the instant camera that I took last night are processed, I will scan them so that they can appear on HEREIN and maybe Erica's blog too.... A big thanks to Sim for picking up the instant camera, cos we forgot the digi-cam last night... It added to the fun of the evening, having to make sure the camera was wound and the flash was on, not to mention READY. Also a big thanks to Erica for having a 21st birthday!!

So without further ado (and I'm going to post this on http://onlycoolppl.blogspot.com too, may I present my rendition of Erica's favourite things:
We both met in Germany, home of the Berlin Wall
Watching and laughing at students with volleyballs
One day in Deutschland, this tale does begin,
called "These Are a Few of my Favourite Things"

In Deutschland we studied, spoke German, ate Bratwurst
Erica, my best friend, well-read and so well-versed
Who knew the meaning of words like "chagrin"
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things

This Fraulein called Erica, mild mannered and meek
engaged in a love triangle to shame "Dawson's Creek"!
Touring round Germany did we laugh, did we sing
that “These Are a Few of my Favourite Things
Claiming to be German and posing for tourists
Blonde haired, blue eyed, the intentions were as pure as
Snow falling slowly, seeing sleigh bells and rings
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things

Harry Potter books, and fantasy novels
Driving inadvertently to suburban brothels
Trying to chart all our friends and their flings
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things
Subtitled movies from far-away countries
Watching these with friends and eating some munchies
Except when there's huntsmen lurking in the wings

These Are a Few of my Favourite Things
Late night infomercials and gardening with headlights
So as not to wake her family with a fright
The night-time is Erica's to be creating
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things

Alpaca and mohair and cotton and spinning
Knitting and weaving, bidding on eBay and winning
Being so clever with buttons and string
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things
Both Erica and I write Internet web logs
Writing diaries, which read like personal prologues
Hers is "One Foot down the Rabbit Hole", mine is "Here-in"
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things

Balderdash, Quickdraw, playing games with the fellas
Black ties and cocktails with little umbrellas
DVD evenings with "Lord of the Rings"
These Are a Few of my Favourite Things
And now the time has come for me to take my leave
Happy 21st Erica and I have something up my sleeve...
"Brown paper packages tied up with string
These A Few of my Favourite Things
