I received a very odd, yet interesting text message on the 24th of January at about 11pm...

"Hi andrew sorry so late notice, but i have a flat tyre on bike. Can i get a lift if ur driving at 5.35? Or do u know if yassy will be driving?"

My response was something along the lines of: "Hi. I don't have your number saved in my phone. Do I know you?? I won't be driving at 5.35 and who is Yassy?!!"

The strange number responded: "Oh sorry mate just off on that number. Thanks for telling me of the mistake though. I'd have been waiting hours without that, really appreciated!"

I said: "You're welcome for the reply. I'm sorry, but do I know you...??"

"I think you may. Remember Bill? He had a mate called james. Dam (sic), it's been a while. Hows the boxing treating you? U still at the function centre?"

At this point, I was very tired and thought I could have been dreaming the whole thing. But no! I have the proof right here in my mobile and now on my blog. If you're reading this, strange person who messaged me. I don't box. I don't know anyone called Bill with a friend called James. I certainly don't work at the function centre!! Hahahahahahaha It's all very funny...

In other news, Australia Day was very fun. Sim + I went to Kel's for a very short while before heading to Sim's grandma's to celebrate Sim's Dad's birthday. I made a lemon slice, and took half to each of function, however sadly the "icing" (if you could even call it that) on Kel's version of the lemon slice was somewhat lacking. I think I added way too much lemon juice. I had copied the recipe out from a friend when I was in Canberra and must've mistakenly written 2-3 tbs instead of 2-3 tsps. Whoops. Suffice it to say, Sim's grandma added lots of icing sugar to the liquid and made a yummy icing!! So this is a belated sorry to all those who ate my lemon slice at Kel's. I hope it wasn't too bad or dry or anything. It's the thought that counts?? *nervous laugh*

On Saturday, Ang held a beautiful breakfast at her place. I was unable to go to her Chinese New Year party the night before, but made up for it on the Saturday morning! Kevin made a delicious brekkie with sausage, egg, bacon, toast, tomato (AJ did not have this)... Yum!! It was very relaxing and seemingly a great way for some of the revellers from the night before to keep those headaches at bay.

That night, Sim + I were slated to go to the zoo for jazz and a picnic for a birthday party, however the rain that day prevented us from doing so. Instead we had a beautiful dinner with family and friends at Sim's parents' and it was lovely. I found out what blind baking was!! I had read a recipe that day, where it said you needed to blind bake something in the oven. This terminology threw me for an absolute sixer. I thought you must need to close your eyes and keep them shut while you opened the oven, inserted the dish and then closed the oven. I thought that by having your eyes closed you might ensure random placement in the oven as well as on one of several racks in the oven. I was wrong.

:-)

I've had a day off today as I had an appointment at the hospital to check up on my repaired hernia. Hence the post at 4pm. All is well, but I occasionally get a bit sore.

I hope everyone's well. I received a great postcard from Hooch today. It will be great when she arrives safely home and we can all share some of her amazing stories. Bye for now...
