The other night, I think I must shat Erica up the wall... I was logging in and out of MSN like a fiend! For some reason, Sim would not appear on my Contact List, nor I on his. The following is an explanation...

so there you go!!
Also, last Monday after DipEd enrolments, which meant it was quite crazy and busy, I caught the tram, train then bus home (as I am wont to do), and when I approached my front door instead of pulling out my key, I pulled out my 10x2hr full-fare Zone 1/2/3 metcard and proceeded to thrust it toward the keyhole. I was seriously expecting the door to open for a good second or so, before I went "Ha!" and fumblingly (yes, it's now a word...) found my keys.

Just thought you'd want to know that.

A lady came in to work today and donated all these exercise books and lesson plans from the late 40s through to the mid 60s. Her aunt had gone to the Melbourne Teacher's College in the late 40s (now part of Unimelb) and was given her old exercise books, and through them she learnt how to become a primary teacher. The exercise books said such things as "Board of Education approved" below beautifully written old-style handwriting informing the world of whose affectation this particular book was, or "Lesson Plan, week one. Term 2, 1965". Inside these gorgeous books were detailed lesson plans, and how to teach little childen the sound of "ch" by writing up on the board: cheese, cherry, chicken and chair (each with a little picture next to it). It also said that "reading is one of the most difficult items in the curriculum to teach little children". There were seasonal poems, copied and handwritten out from the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson and others with wonderful diagrams or mushrooms and ants and butterflies and cocoons or religion lessons with biblical words or concepts underlined for expressive need, perhaps(?). It was pretty mind-blowing. They will be passed on to the archivists at Unimelb, who I'm sure will know who they should go to and who will appreciate them the most.

Have a good night.
