RADIOHEAD DAY - TODAY!!! RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

...can you tell i'm excited?
You should be able to. You should feel it coming out of the computer screen as you read this, feel it in the hurried pace of my words, in the urgency that is the today... Been waiting for this for quite some time, ladies and jellybeans. Yep!
Not too sure what I was doing in 1998 (besides being in Year 10 and playing Mario Kart tournaments...) but I didn't go to see Radiohead in that year. Nor did Shane. What were we thinking? Riding high on the adulation that followed OK Computer, they were regarded as the biggest band of the decade. And Shane and I didn't see them. D'oh! Ahhh hindsight is a nice word isn't it...?

But now we're older, with more disposable income (supposedly) (that almost rhymes..) and can splurge on seeing bands such as this one, a goliath in terms of alt-rock! It's gonna be soooo good. Been brushing up on my 'Head, by listening to all their albums/EPs (that I have anyway, which is quite extensive if I do say so meself). Also made an "Essential Introduction to Radiohead" for Sim. So cool....

What an awesome weekend...

Kel's 21st was a BLAST! Can't wait to see the photos from the night. It was certainly cold going as a lifeguard... I can tell you that.

Then on Sunday, following a brilliant lunch, Sim and I saw 'Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind' starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. As you would expect from Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) it's weird as all hell, but behind it all it's a beautiful love story. I found myself at one time near tears with happiness of how Joel and Clementine's love progressed. I won't say anymore, just go into it with an open mind and be prepared to really think and enjoy a ripper of a movie!! The title comes from a poem by Alexander Pope. Here's a snippet:

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;
Labour and rest, that equal periods keep;
"Obedient slumbers that can wake and weep;"
Desires compos'd, affections ever ev'n,
Tears that delight, and sighs that waft to Heav'n.
Grace shines around her with serenest beams,
And whisp'ring angels prompt her golden dreams.
For her th' unfading rose of Eden blooms,
And wings of seraphs shed divine perfumes,
For her the Spouse prepares the bridal ring,
For her white virgins hymeneals sing,
To sounds of heav'nly harps she dies away,
And melts in visions of eternal day.
