The Understandascope

A man stands on an outlook, overlooking the city and its people below. His gaze turns to a large telescope, which he then uses to magnify his view of the city and its little people. Through the looking glass, the little people go about their little lives, doing what they do; you know, little people things.

The man watching is no bigger than the little people in the city, nor does he feel any bigger than them in any way. Nevertheless, from his view on the outlook, overlooking the city, people will forever look little.

Of course, they're not little. Well, they are, but the little lives they lead make them happy. Their little worlds, filled with little joys, and little happinesses are enough. The man's little life is just the same. He will never understand.

The telescope he's using is somehow broken though. He believes it does not work as it should. He does not understand. The telescope should let him understand. That is its purpose. He wants to live a little life, with a little love and only very little disappointment, little sadness and little worry, but he does not understand. That little life may never come when you're not part of the little world below.

The Understandascope is broken. His eyes must be too. He will never understand.
