Saturday, January 25, 2003 After a little break from the weblogs, I thought I'd resume the pose. I saw RING (the original Japanese version of THE RING) the other night. As I was the only one who had not seen the American re-make I was utterly confused and could not add to the comments, critique and inevitable criticisms that the movie seemed to elicit. That night we also watched five (5!) Futurama episodes. Whoa. I saw Erica in her BACK TO BROADWAY musical production which was thoroughly entertaining. Great songs, great costumes and awesome singing and dancing. But where was the nude scene from Hair, Erica? .....Eh? What else... worked ten hours at Kmart yesterday. So while Simon was catching up with uni buddies, talking the talk and walking the walk, I was in Retail Hell. Nah, wasn;t that bad.... Just long. With interesting customers. Case in point: hasd a man come in and commented on my namebadge (A.J.) I opted for the points in between the A and the J as I thought customers would call me Aj (rhymes with Madge). Hmmm. He asked me, in this really deadpan voice and really quickly... "A.J., what kind of a name is that? Were you parents hippies or something? Did they love apple juice?" I, od course, had no idea how to respond and nervously laughed and went "he ha he ha ha" and continued my work... what else could I have done... Also, I had just put money in a register and was bending over to put something into the rubbish bin when this man SIDLED up to me and shouted in my ear "where are the ...somethings...". I of course, got the fright of my life, as it's not everyday when strangers shout in your ear when you're least expecting it. Let alone just after you've had an inordinate amount of money in your possession. He then had the nerve to tell me "You've got bad nerves, son". GRRRR ARRRRRGGHH. The restaurant at Kmart closed yesterday sadly. "Holly's". I am told that our Kmart was in fact the last Kmart in Australia to actually have a restaurant in its borders. It will be sadly missed. Oh and on an unrelated note: I am not the only one to walk in time to music, although I'm told that walking in time to music in shopping centres is a little more difficult as the music in those establishments is usualy ..... erm... of a lesser quality than various other locales. Saw The Royal Tenenbaums. Interesting. Gwyneth Paltrow plays a secretive, depressed playwright really well and it is quite quirky. They are definitely not your "normal" suburban family. In fact, the one-liner on the front of the box read: "Family is not a word.... it's a sentence". Clever, eh?posted by AJ | 3:25 PM | |
